Behavioral Health Internship

The Oregon Latino Health Coalition (OLHC) is hiring a temporary Behavioral Health Intern to support OLHC’s mission to advance the health of Latinos through policy, advocacy, and prevention. The Oregon Latino Health Coalition has developed a paid Internship. This internship is directly tied to the Latino Emotional Health Collaborative (LEHC) 2024-2025 Strategic Framework and will introduce Latinx students to various behavioral and emotional health professionals and career paths.
What Interns Can Expect
- Engage with Behavioral Health Professionals – Attend and support LEHC meetings, network with providers, and schedule career shadow days.
- Gain Practical Experience – Help organize a Virtual Statewide Behavioral Health Gathering, develop an agenda, create outreach materials, and analyze post-event evaluations.
- Work on a Capstone Project – Design and implement a final project based on personal behavioral health interests (e.g., conducting surveys, research, or community outreach).
- Develop Leadership & Professional Skills – Participate in OLHC meetings, policy and advocacy discussions, and coalition strategizing to gain firsthand experience in health policy and community advocacy.
- Receive Mentorship & Supervision – Interns will be directly supervised by the Coalition Policy Strategist, with dedicated support in developing skills and professional growth.
Internship Qualifications:
- Knowledge/experience working with Latinx community is preferred
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred
- Ability to attend required meetings, events, and trainings
- Comfortable with virtual and in-person engagement (as needed)
- Must provide two references
Compensation
$25.00 per hour (15-20 hours per week).
