Spotlight On New Faculty Lecture Series – Dr. Marisa Westbrook

Structural Vulnerability: A Lens For Approaching Research On Housing Insecurity & Mental Health

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for the first session in our new “Spotlight on Faculty” series from SPH Academic Affairs. We were so excited to learn more about Dr. Marisa Westbrook’s scholarship and to hear about how she is building and extending her work here in Portland.

Dr. Marisa Westbrook is a Health Promotion & Community Health faculty member in the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health, teaching courses related to program planning and evaluation, urban and community health, health equity, and social justice. She is a community-engaged research studying the impacts of affordable housing crisis and urban inequity on mental health and wellbeing among low-income communities of color. Her work has been published in numerous outlets including Critical Public Health, SSM-Mental Health, Journal of Adolescent Health, and Geoforum.

We look forward to seeing you at our next session, which will be featuring Dr. Nicole Wakim in Fall 2023.
