Join us for an insightful session with Dr. Angela Spencer, a renowned global health researcher and implementation science expert, at the CIMR Friday Seminar Series.
 

About the Seminar:
  • 3:00-3:05 PM: Introduction to Dr. Spencer’s inspiring journey in research.
  • 3:05-4:00 PM: Presentation on “Implementation Science to Improve Global and Local Community Health”.
  • 4:00-4:30 PM: Casual Remote networking session providing a chance to interact with Dr. Spencer, learn about research opportunities, internships, and graduate programs.

Dr. Spencer’s Bio:
Dr. Angela Spencer is a health researcher who uses multiple methods to implement and scale up evidence-based practices in community and healthcare settings. She has over 10 years’ experience in global health research. She most recently worked with researchers from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), University of Washington (UW), and University of Cayetano Peruana Heredia from 2016-2023 to implement evidence-based interventions to control infectious disease in rural Northern Peru. In fall 2023, she joined the UW Department of Global Health as postdoctoral scholar. She is now working with a multidisciplinary team to apply human-centered design and community-based participatory methods to adapt cardiovascular care innovations from low- and middle-income countries to healthcare settings in the rural western United States.

Dr. Spencer was raised in Northern California and Northeastern Oklahoma. She is a Cherokee Nation citizen and first-generation college graduate. She moved to Oregon after completing her BA in Psychology at Western Colorado University. She worked as a mental health case manager, then became a Research Assistant at the Portland State University (PSU) Regional Research Institute for Human Services, where she helped evaluate community mental health programs in Josephine County, Oregon. She then earned an MBA at Southern Oregon University and became a Research Associate and Program Manager at OHSU in Portland. She completed her PhD in Community Health at the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health in 2023.
