Community Center Board Member (Volunteer) Northeast Community Center

Website Northeast Community Center

The Northeast Community Center (NECC) is an independent non-profit community center in NE Portland. The NECC fills a geographic “gap” in Portland Parks and Recreation Community Centers and indoor pools, and strives to strengthen the fabric of our community by providing opportunities to stay active, socially connected, and physically/mentally healthy.

The NECC’s mission is to build and support a thriving and resilient intergenerational community in NE Portland. Guided by our values, the NECC provides physical space and community-responsive programs that promote well-being, foster relationships, empower individuals, and center equity.

We are seeking engaged community members who are excited about contributing energy, expertise, and enthusiasm to an organization dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and equitable community.

Board members are asked to participate in evening meetings once a month, with occasional activities with committees and/or the full board outside of regular meetings. Board members provide high-level oversight and guidance to ensure that the NECC’s policies, programs, and priorities align with the organization’s mission, values, and Strategic Plan. Board members also support both fundraising and “friend-raising” by sharing the NECC’s story with friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors and conveying the value of the NECC to you and the broader community.

Board meetings are held on the 4th Monday of each month from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

If you are looking for a place to apply your skills or learn new ones, all while helping build community, please consider volunteering! You can read more about the community center here:
