Website Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is offering a 18-24 month postgraduate Administrative Fellowship Program for students who graduate or have completed the didactic portion of their program by the end of the 2024-2025 academic year.

Lurie Children’s is a free-standing pediatric medical center located in Chicago, Illinois. The hospital is aligned with 1,100 pediatric specialists focusing on more than 70 specialties in 18 locations.

The postgraduate fellowship program is designed to specifically offer a focus on pediatric healthcare issues.

The objectives of the fellowship include

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic goals by participating in department-wide projects and executive team initiatives
  • Enhance leadership experience by managing projects, participating in senior leadership and committee meetings, and engaging in shadowing opportunities
  • Identify and evaluate areas of interest within pediatric healthcare and academic medicine
  • Develop professional relationships with the senior executive team and other leaders within the medical center

This is an 18 to 24-month Administrative Fellowship that allows the fellow to gain exposure to all facets of the organization. Year 1 of the Fellowship is project based, ensuring that the fellow works closely with senior leadership on projects that address operational and strategic initiatives and support the mission of Lurie Children’s, while also allowing the fellow to tailor the experience to align with their personal interests. The fellow is invited to attend leadership and board meetings and is encouraged to enhance their experience by shadowing and seeking out other activities across the organization. Year 2 provides the fellow the opportunity to pursue an interim management role, stretch assignment, or department specific project support depending on the organizational need and fellow’s interest. The fellow will be encouraged to start applying for full-time roles around 18 months, and expected to complete their fellowship at 24 months.

Along with the knowledge gained through working on projects throughout the fellowship year, the fellow will also attend leadership and board meetings in order to gain a firm understanding of the strategic goals and vision for Lurie Children’s. The fellow is also encouraged to supplement their experience with additional meetings, shadowing and other activities across the hospital. The Administrative Fellow reports directly to the Executive VP & Chief Operating Officer along with having formal mentors across various departments of the organization.
