Course Information

Jae Downing joins the School of Public Health as an Assistant Professor in January 2019 from the University of South Carolina. Their research interests focus on social and economic stressors on health and birth outcomes; health inequalities; and sexual and gender minority health.

Professor Downing’s work explores how policies and social safety nets shape access to and quality of healthcare for GSM and other minority populations.

Course Information

Program evaluation is a field of study and practice that is applicable across areas and disciplines. This course provides students with the theoretical and practical bases for the trans-discipline of program evaluation. The course emphasizes evaluation in the context of global health programs. Students will develop basic skills in a variety of approaches to evaluation, including techniques that are particularly suitable for evaluating global health programs.

Course Information

Examination of health-related changes that occur with aging. Review of current scientific literature with an investigation of physiological mechanisms responsible for changes in functional capacity throughout life. Explores the role of physical activity and nutrition in healthy aging.

Course Information

Dr. Roy holds a faculty appointment in the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health as an Adjunct Instructor. In this role, Dr. Roy’s work includes continuing to develop successful research programs and engage in the academic mission of the School.

In addition, Dr. Roy is an Oregon Mycobacterial and Chronic Chest Infection Fellow. The fellowship emphasizes direct clinical management of these diseases in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, provides consultative guidance to local providers in the management of these diseases, and epidemiologic and clinical trials work regarding these diseases.
