OCTRI Grant Writing Workshop
October 12 @ 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Oregon Clinical & Translational Research Institute (OCTRI) in conjunction with Grant Writers’ Seminars & Workshops presents:
Write Winning Grant Proposals
with presenter, John D. Robertson, Ph.D.
Friday, October 12, 2018
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
This widely acclaimed day-long seminar comprehensively addresses practical and conceptual aspects important to writing competitive grant proposals. Emphasis is given to doing the ‘extra’ things that can make the difference between success and failure, such as demanding the idea yield a vertical advance in the applicant’s field when acted upon, identification of the most appropriate granting agency for your idea, including whether it is relevant to an agency’s priorities or not, use of an agency’s review criteria to inform writing of the application, and practical understanding of tips and strategies of proven value in presenting your project to reviewers. Regardless of agency, participants are taught to write with a linear progression of logic, leading reviewers through their application. Strategies to merit a fundable priority score are emphasized.
Who should attend and why?
- Faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and students planning to write a research grant in the next two years.
- This seminar is appropriate for individuals with lesser grant writing experience, and is a good refresher for those with more extensive experience.
- During the seminar, participants will receive an extensive handout and grant writing manual, *The Grant Application Writer’s Workbook – NIH version
- While primarily targeted towards NIH grants, the principles are appropriate for applicants applying to other agencies
*To see about workshop material changes (i.e a different version of the workbook, such as NSF) please contact Melissa Mudd directly (email@example.com)
