Oregon Nutrition Day

April 24 @ 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

This annual conference brings together health care providers, nutritionists, public health professionals and community-based organizations from around Oregon with a specific focus on the field of Developmental Origins of Health and Disease.

Every Oregon Nutrition Day we select a theme that is relevant to current events. This year the theme is “Food Access for All: Innovations in Nutrition and Accessibility”. As food insecurity remains an issue in our post-pandemic world, organizations continue to create innovative programs and methods to address this intransigent issue. This year our conference will showcase individuals and organizations innovating to address food insecurity, while providing a scientific background on the importance of food security to improve population health.

This year we are fortunate to have Marie Spiker, Ph.D., RDN, as our keynote speaker. Dr. Spiker is an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington School of Public Health in the Program in Food Systems, Nutrition and Health and Department of Epidemiology, who prepares students to join an evolving food systems workforce. Her research focuses on food security and how it’s impacted by food systems such as policy, governance and infrastructure, as well as system approaches for improving nutrition and reducing food loss and waste.

We are still finalizing our schedule, but so far, we have the Partners for a Hunger Free Oregon, Oregon Food Bank, Familia’s en Accion, OHSU Nourish Program, and the Yamhill County Hub of the Nutrition Oregon Campaign as organizations that will be present for our conference.
