Public Health Preceptor Training ECHO

February 1, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Public Health Preceptor Training ECHO

The Oregon ECHO Network (Extension for Community Health Outcomes) delivers and supports tele-mentoring programs for clinicians and clinical teams to learn, share, and connect.

First and third Wednesdays of each month, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
1/4/2023 – 3/15/2023

The purpose of this ECHO is to develop more confident public health preceptors who are better equipped to support public health students through an applied practice experience resulting in increased opportunities for students to explore a career with underserved populations. Individuals with and without prior precepting experience are welcome to join. Most content will apply to both undergraduate and graduate programs but weighted more heavily on graduate level. We also aim to build leadership skills and increased job satisfaction of preceptors. Topics will include:

  • Internship logistics between academic institution and host site
  • Scoping and managing a project
  • Best practices and skills for giving and receiving feedback
  • Orienting learners to local and state public health context – including historical context

This program is free and has been approved by the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) for up to 6 credits of CPH continuing education.
