Quantitative Methods For Generalizing Research: An Application To Addiction Medicine with Ryan Cook, PhD, MSPH.
Ryan Cook, PHD, MSPH is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics with OHSU – Human Investigations Program
Research findings deviate from true casual effects of interest because of limitations in study methodology and/or lack of applicability to key populations of interest. This talk will introduce transportability and generalizability analysis, a family of techniques for correcting external validity bias. A brief overview of the methods will be followed by an example from the field of Addiction Medicine, where hard-to-reach populations who are most in need of treatment are often excluded from clinical research.
