Quantitative Epidemiology Methods in Practice Seminar: Difference in Difference Approaches for Multiple Time Periods

Presenter: Menolly Kaufman, MPH
PhD Candidate, Epidemiology

The Difference in Difference (DID) approach is often used to assess the impact of a policy that is administered at a given point in time. However, policies are often enacted at multiple time points. Under these circumstances, traditional DID approaches may result in biased estimates. We will explore an extension of the DID approach that estimates the average treatment effect of a policy enacted over multiple time periods using a real-world example of expanding prenatal care access to undocumented women.
