DESCRIPTION:National Public Health Week is the biggest week of the year for the Public Health field\, as it gives us the chance to showcase the critical work we do to promote the health of individuals\, families\, communities and populations. \nThis year’s NPHW theme is “Ready. Set. Action!” As we celebrate\, take a moment to recognize how public health has improved our daily lives\, safeguarded our families\, expanded our life spans\, and strengthened our communities. This week is also a chance to honor the public health workers who show up for us every day — and to advocate for policies and practices that promote good health for all. This live conversation will feature alumni of the This Is Public Health® (TIPH) Ambassador Program reflecting on the experiences that shaped their journeys into public health. \nModerated by Lady Dorothy Elli\, MPH\, public health researcher\, Princeton in Asia Fellow\, and former TIPH Ambassador\, the discussion will bring together former TIPH ambassadors who now work across a range of public health roles. DESCRIPTION:As our inaugural SPH Grand Rounds speaker we are honored to feature Dr. Sejal Hathi\, Director of the Oregon Health Authority\, for a talk on Tuesday\, April 7th. Dr. Hathi’s visit is particularly significant for our faculty. As a board-certified physician\, former White House Senior Policy Advisor\, and now Oregon’s chief public health official\, she represents the interdisciplinary leadership required to address today’s complex health challenges. \nThis is a unique opportunity for our school to engage with the leadership of our state’s primary public health partner as we discuss the future of the field in Oregon. And her talk perfectly embodies this year’s NPHW theme: “Ready. Set. As Director of the Oregon Health Authority\, she oversees the state’s public health services\, Medicaid program\, and behavioral health systems. \nDr. Hathi’s distinguished career includes serving as a White House Senior Policy Advisor for Public Health and as the Deputy Health Commissioner for New Jersey\, where she led significant state-level public health interventions. A graduate of Yale and Stanford University (MD/MBA)\, she has held faculty positions at Johns Hopkins and Stanford\, bringing a rare blend of executive policy expertise and global health leadership to her role as Oregon’s chief health official.
