SUMMARY:Designing Scientific Posters that Work Online
DESCRIPTION:This first part of a two-part series on scientific posters focuses on the foundational principles of effective scientific poster design. Participants will learn how to structure a poster to clearly communicate their research story\, applying evidence-based design and writing strategies that support comprehension rather than overwhelm the reader. Topics include rhetorical context (audience\, purpose\, and situation)\, poster structure\, visual hierarchy\, accessibility considerations\, and concise poster text. \nREGISTER FOR EVENT

SUMMARY:The Public Health Impacts of the 2025 Executive Orders: An Overview of the Network’s Executive Order Tracker
DESCRIPTION:The past year was filled with federal actions that greatly impacted public health\, both in the traditional sense and through a broader Health in All Policies lens. From funding cuts to the destabilization of long-trusted public health institutions\, 2025 was a notable year for public health. Federal executive orders issued throughout 2025 were no exception. \nInformation on the federal executive orders issued throughout 2025 was often scattered\, making it difficult to appreciate the overall impact of these federal actions and related policies on public health. \nThe Network’s newly created resource\, Executive Order Watch: Public Health Impact of the 2025 Federal Executive Orders\, helps bridge this gap by providing an at-a-glance overview of the 2025 executive orders. Though not exhaustive\, the wide range of topics—from climate to vaccines to the federal workforce—captures the scale of impact across public health. \nJoin us to learn more about this new resource and the ongoing public health impacts of the 2025 executive orders and related actions in areas including equity\, reproductive health\, the Federal MAHA initiative\, immigration\, and voting. \nAttend this webinar to learn about: \n\nThe Network’s new resource Public Health Impact of the 2025 Federal Executive Orders.\nLarger public health themes and events\, policies\, and actions related to the 2025 Executive Orders. \n\nREGISTER FOR EVENT

SUMMARY:Power and Sample Size 101
DESCRIPTION:Biostatistics\, Epidemiology\, and Research Design (BERD) and Informatics Programs\nHosted by: Meike Niederhausen\, Ph.D. \n  \nAre you grappling with power and sample size (PSS) calculations for a grant or looking to brush up on your PSS skills? This seminar aims to demystify the PSS calculation process. We will help you understand what grant reviewers are looking for in PSS calculations\, discuss what components are required to calculate PSS\, and talk through how to make key decisions about the estimates used in your calculations. These concepts will be illustrated using simple study designs that will help you learn how to do basic PSS calculations. \nRegister via Compass. Seminar will be recorded. \nQuestions?
