DESCRIPTION:How can assignments and assessments evolve when generative AI becomes part of the learning environment? This roundtable will feature practical examples of faculty intentionally incorporating AI into student work\, from using Socratic questioning to connect experiences with competencies to using AI-generated perspectives to challenge assumptions and strengthen arguments. Participants will discuss approaches that preserve authentic learning while building critical thinking\, reflection\, and student accountability. \nCore takeaway:\nEffective assignment redesign gives AI a purposeful role in the learning process without replacing the thinking students need to do themselves. This timely ASPPH Presents webinar will explore the connection between civic engagement and public health and the role the academic public health community can play in supporting informed\, nonpartisan voter participation. \nModerated by ASPPH Chief External Relations & Advocacy Officer Tim Leshan\, the discussion will feature Gnora Mahs of the Institute for Responsive Government\, ASPPH’s Beeta Rasouli\, and Amy Souders of Cornerstone Government Affairs. \nPanelists will discuss how civic engagement can influence health outcomes and the policies and investments that shape community health and well-being. However\, individual researchers at OHSU and beyond who work with All of Us data face numerous challenges navigating the platform and data structure and often lack support in working through issues that arise. \nIn this inaugural seminar in the FUSE series\, we aim to begin building a community of researchers who wish to work with the All of Us data. After a brief introduction to the All of Us Research Program\, several members of this nascent community will share their experiences\, challenges\, and tips for getting started. DESCRIPTION:Oregon Bioethics and Humanities Colloquium (OBHC) presents key not speaker Dr. David Magnus\, Ph.D.\, Thomas A. Raffin Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Ethics\, Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine\, Associate Dean for Research at Stanford University. \nDr. Magnus is Director Emeritus of the Laurie J. Girand Center for Medical Bioethics at Stanford University\, and is currently Co-Chair of the IRB for the NIH Precision Medicine Initiative. Dr. Magnus has published articles on a wide array of bioethics topics\, including research ethics\, AI ethics\, genetics\, stem cell research\, organ transplantation\, end of life\, and patient communication. He has also appeared on many radio and television shows including 60 Minutes\, Good Morning America\, The Today Show\, CBS This Morning\, FOX News Sunday\, and ABC World News and NPR.  \nAbout OBHC\nThe Oregon Bioethics and Humanities Colloquium (OBHC) is an academic lecture series for the state of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. The goal of the OBHC is to foster substantive inquiry\, discussion\, and education in bioethics and medical humanism by bringing together scholars\, professionals\, and students from diverse disciplines\, including medicine\, philosophy\, literature\, sociology\, religion\, public health\, law\, and policy. We aim to create an interdisciplinary and inclusive environment where critical examination of the human experience is the norm. We want to provoke thought\, deepen moral imagination\, and help generate new insights into our health care experiences that both challenge and edify all who attend.
