SUMMARY:Pink Lemonade Project Trainings - OHSU General Cancer 101
DESCRIPTION:Community Health Workers (CHWs) and their similar counterparts such as Peer Navigators (PN)\, Traditional Health Workers (THWs) etc.\, play a critical role in breaking barriers for patients who experience challenges to accessing healthcare and providing culturally-competent health education. While many CHWs in Oregon are already trained in assisting communities with managing chronic illnesses or heart disease\, there is a gap in available content for cancer-specific topics. \nThis training — developed by a partnership between OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and Pink Lemonade Project — will introduce an overview of cancer and then use breast cancer as an example of one specific cancer. Topics that will be covered include carcinogenesis\, risks\, prevention\, screening guidelines\, and post-diagnosis supports. The goal for having CHWs trained in cancer topics is to increase awareness of cancer prevention and screenings among communities that face cancer disparities such as those in rural areas\, Black\, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. The training will also provide some insight and resources into how CHWs can support cancer patients and survivors. \nREGISTER FOR EVENT

SUMMARY:Working with the All of Us Research Program data: Building a Community of Researchers at OHSU
DESCRIPTION:Facilitator: Alicia Johnson\, MPH \nThe NIH All of Us Research Program is an incredible resource to researchers\, providing access to genomics and health data from a large sample of participants that includes historically marginalized groups and enabling health discoveries that promise to improve the lives of individuals. However\, individual researchers at OHSU and beyond who work with All of Us data face numerous challenges navigating the platform and data structure and often lack support in working through issues that arise. \nIn this inaugural seminar in the FUSE series\, we aim to begin building a community of researchers who wish to work with the All of Us data. After a brief introduction to the All of Us Research Program\, several members of this nascent community will share their experiences\, challenges\, and tips for getting started. Resources for working with this data will be shared. \nAll are welcome and no prior background with the All of Us Research Program or in data management or analysis will be assumed. This seminar will not be recorded \nREGISTER FOR EVENT
