Laurel Murphy HoffmannFaculty Member Epidemiology
Dr. Laurel Hoffmann has a faculty appointment in the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health in the Epidemiology programs. In this SPH role her work includes teaching classes, mentoring students, and collaborating on research with primary faculty.
In addition to her work as a faculty member in SPH, Dr. Hoffmann is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the OHSU School of Medicine.
In the Northwest Native American Center of Excellence (NNACoE), Dr. Hoffmann directs the Population Health Thread for the Wy’east Post-B accalaureate Pathway, a year-long, immersive academic and cultural experience for American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) scholars who are preparing to attend medical school. Her course teaches epidemiology, bioethics, and health disparities.
Dr. Hoffmann is also very engaged in public health at the state level as part of the Oregon Health Authority’s working group on Social Determinants of Health and work on how to improve the foster care system in Oregon.
