Interprofessional Education

Interprofessional education is when students from two or more professions learn about, from, and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes. The Interprofessional Experience course is a requirement for all MPH degree programs, and is met in different ways in different programs.

The Interprofessional Experience course is a requirement for all MPH degree program students who matriculated in Fall 2018 or later, and is met in different ways in different programs.

Students in the BiostatisticsEnvironmental Systems and Human Health, and Epidemiology MPH programs must take Qualitative Methods for Health Professionals (UNI 504) to meet the Interprofessional Experience requirement. Students in Biostatistics may elect to take an approved qualitative methods course within the SPH. If so, they may also take IPE 512, 513, 514, or 515.

Students in the Health Management and Policy program meet the IPE requirement by taking IPE 512, IPE 513, IPE 514, or IPE 515. Other courses with the IPE or UNI prefix may also be taken to satisfy this requirement, but must be approved in advance by the student’s faculty advisor.

Students in the Health Promotion program meet the IPE requirement by taking IPE 510, IPE 512, IPE 513, IPE 514 or IPE 515. Other courses with the IPE or UNI prefix may also be taken to satisfy this requirement, but must be approved in advance by the student’s faculty advisor.

Students in the MPH in Public Health Practice program meet the IPE requirement by taking IPE 512, 513, 514, or 515. Please see the student handbook for more information.

Satisfying the Interprofessional Experience requirement is done according to the table below:
