Lincoln County Public Health is looking to add a Health Promotion Specialist to their team. This position develops, plans, implements, evaluates, and reports on comprehensive health promotion programs for the Lincoln County Health and Human Services (HHS), including the areas of Community Health, Mental Health Promotion, Substance Use Prevention, Tobacco Prevention, Chronic Disease Prevention, and Harm Reduction.

The person in this role is also responsible for contributing to community health assessments and to community health improvement plan processes to ensure Health Promotion programs are informed by and aligned with these documents.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Provide health education consultation to HHS staff and management regarding programs, issues, policies, and special projects:

  • Participate in ongoing professional development and trainings
  • Train and build skills in Health Promotion team, HHS staff, and/or relevant community partners using evidence-based information and content from professional development and trainings.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, trainings, and activities to further the health of the community.
  • Participate in on-going quality improvement and reports from data systems to guide and improve practices.

 
Provide HHS representation to relevant public committees and other allied health committees:

  • Coordinate and implement health promotion programs, as assigned, for and with organizational partners and community members.
  • Provide up-to-date health information, including trends, data, and research evidence to a variety of community groups and organizations
  • Convene and collaborate with key stakeholders and coalitions for the development and advancement of health promotion programs, which includes traveling inside and outside of Lincoln County

 
Develop, implement, and evaluate goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for health promotion programs as assigned:

  • Interact and convene community partners and resources as necessary to assure population needs are being met.
  • Ensure programs are aligned with community health assessments and community health improvement plans.
  • Ensure programs are aligned with funding requirements and evidence-based best practices.
  • Assist in the development of annual and long-range health promotion plans
  • Work as a team member in Health Promotion Unit.

 
Assist in the development and maintenance of informational resource materials in assigned topic areas:

  • Assist in development of yearly calendar for media campaigns
  • Develop press releases, public service announcements, and participate in local media events in accordance with the HHS communications policy
  • Develop, prepare, review, and evaluate audio-visual and written health education materials.
  • Ensure accessible equity and health literacy standards are met for readability, appropriateness, content, and graphics.

 
Assist in monitoring and reporting on assigned health promotion grants for compliance and accountability:

  • Ensure all assigned grant requirements are fulfilled.
  • Assist in the literature reviews and writing of potential health promotion grants and other funding sources that will address gaps identified in community health assessments.

Minimum Education Level

Bachelors
Specifics: with major coursework in Public Health, Community Health, Health Promotion, Health Sciences, Health Education, Human Services, Community Development, or similar.

Minimum Experience Level

One year relevant experience working to improve community health or change factors that affect the conditions and behaviors of groups of people.
