Job Summary
The Department of Health Services Management and Policy at East Tennessee State University College of Public Health is recruiting for two (2) full-time Postdoctoral Fellow positions. These positions will be affiliated with the Center for Applied Research and Evaluation (CARE) in Women’s Health. The positions are ideal for researchers interested in advancing the science around reproductive health care and policy and developing their skills in this field.
The Postdoctoral Fellows will work under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and will engage in research and evaluation, including data management, data analysis, interpretation, report/manuscript development, and documentation in support of funded grant objectives and research activities. The Postdoctoral Fellows will assist in the direction of graduate students in their research projects, collaborate with senior and early career researchers on projects, and work with the team CARE Women’s Health team to meet the deliverables associated with the Choose Well Evaluation Grant. Other roles as assigned.
Postdoctoral Fellows will have the opportunity for advanced training in reproductive health research and policy; mentorship; peer-reviewed journal article publication; access to novel datasets; grant writing; professional development for roles inside and outside of academia, and development of skills in project conceptualization, execution, and strategic dissemination.
ETSU is a Doctoral Research-Intensive university with more than 14,000 students. ETSU is located in the Johnson City metropolitan area, an economic and healthcare hub in the Southern Appalachian Highlands. The Department of Health Services Management and Policy boasts diverse faculty expertise, research, and academic programs. The CEPH-accredited College of Public Health is home to multiple departments and research centers and enjoys collaborative relationships with four other health-related colleges within ETSU Health, the Mountain Home VA Medical Center, and the region’s public health and healthcare systems.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge and experience in quantitative research and evaluation methodologies for the social sciences.
- Demonstrated ability to use SAS, Stata, or R statistical software packages for data management analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate statistical methods for complex research designs involving cross sectional and/or longitudinal data.
- Demonstrated proficiency in scientific and technical writing and program evaluation.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Required Qualifications
PhD, DrPH, ScD, or equivalent degree in public health, social sciences, statistics, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience participating in research in women’s health, reproductive health, and/or maternal and child health fields. Experience in the management and analysis of large datasets.
