The wellness coordinator is a new position at Street Roots to coordinate showers and laundry services made possible by the renovations of Street Roots’ new headquarters, located on NW 3rd & W Burnside in Old Town.

In the first 3-6 months, the Wellness Center will work closely with existing Street Roots staff and vendors to build out a plan for sustainable, ongoing operations of the wellness center while also working directly with Street Roots vendors in the vendor office The wellness center, which includes two showers, a dedicated vanity space, modest clothing offerings and three full service washers and dryers. Guided by trauma-informed design, a focus on the user experience and lamppost of sustainability, aspects of the operational plan will include:

• Learning from partners who operate showers and laundry for people experiencing homelessness
• Determining hours of operations;
• Identifying supplies and other needs, focusing on having a variety of products available for many different skin and hair types;
• Creating a staffing model;
• Identifying volunteer needs and support;
• Implementing effective and trauma-informed policies around expectations of using the space; and
• Helping build out this new program offering in tandem with our existing programs.
• Providing floor support at our vendor office on a weekly basis.
