Exciting News: Paul Tratnyek Joins Environmental Science & Technology as Associate Editor
We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone within our academic community. Professor Paul Tratnyek, a distinguished faculty known for his research in environmental sciences, has been appointed as an Associate Editor for the Environmental Science & Technology (ES&T) journal.
Environmental Science & Technology is celebrated as the most prestigious journal spanning the full spectrum of environmental sciences. Its scope is comprehensive, covering areas such as eco- and environmental toxicology, environmental aspects of public health, regulation, and policy. Given the remarkably low acceptance rate at ES&T, Professor Tratnyek’s appointment signals not only his esteemed reputation in the environmental sciences field but also provides an invaluable resource for aspiring contributors to the journal.
Professor Tratnyek’s relationship with ES&T is long-standing, having published almost 100 research papers in the journal. Notably, two of his contributions have been recognized as “landmark” papers by the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors, underscoring their significant impact on the practice of environmental engineering and science. His research focuses on crucial issues such as the fate and effects of environmental contaminants, including PFAS (“forever chemicals”), pesticides, and micro- and nano-plastics.
Beyond his research, Professor Tratnyek is deeply committed to education. He teaches two courses in the Environmental Systems and Human Health track of the MPH program, ESHH 529 and 530, where he often discusses major new developments published in ES&T. This integration of cutting-edge research into his teaching ensures that the next generation of environmental scientists is well-versed in the latest advancements and challenges in the field.
Professor Tratnyek’s appointment as associate editor is a testament to his outstanding contributions to environmental science and embodies the spirit of innovation and excellence that ES&T and our academic community stand for. Please join us in congratulating Professor Tratnyek on this well-deserved recognition and in looking forward to the impactful work he will oversee in his new role as Associate Editor.
