Amanda Petrik
Biography
Amanda Petrik, PhD, is an Investigator at the Center for Health Research at Kaiser Permanente Northwest (KPNW), with extensive training in social and health systems and policy. Her research focuses on the use of novel data analytic approaches in research and program implementation to understand and increase health and wellness among disparate populations. She has led and directed projects primarily focused on the implementation of programs to increase cancer prevention including colorectal and cervical cancer screening, while developing an expertise in predictive analytics, and novel methods like configurational comparative methods and coincidence analysis (CCM/CNA).
Dr. Petrik is currently leading large projects in the areas of colorectal cancer screening, cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination. She recently received a large UG/UH3 grant from the National Cancer Institute in collaboration with the University of Washington and the University of Chicago to increase primary HPV testing for cervical cancer in community clinics. She recently received an R01 grant from the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities to increase HPV vaccination in School Based Health Centers in collaboration with the Oregon School Based Health Alliance and the Knight Cancer Research Institute. Additional work includes funding from the Garfield Memorial Fund on examining the use of risk scores in Breast Cancer treatment among Black and African American patients. Dr. Petrik continues to work with the Learning Health Systems team and provides support and collaboration to KPNW. Through her studies, she has worked with a diverse set of clinical and patient partners and other health care staff to understand opportunities to increase screening among community populations.

More than 150 faculty members work within the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. They have a wide range of expertise, from monitoring and assessing health risks and opportunities in populations, to helping build health-supporting social environments through policy, advocacy, and programs. They are educators, advisors, researchers, practitioners and community leaders. They come from backgrounds in quantitative, behavioral, environmental and social sciences, policy and government, exercise and health sciences and anthropology, among many other areas. They all work in collaboration with each other and with community partners, and are especially focused on the training and education of future leaders and practitioners in the public health fields.
