Katherine Borofka
Biography
Katie Borofka has a BA in Peace & Conflict Studies and a minor in Global Poverty & Practice from UC Berkeley, and an MPH (Health Promotion) and MSW (Clinical Social Work) from Portland State University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Oregon, and an approved supervisor for Clinical Social Work Associates (CSWAs) in Oregon. She is a Certified Sex Therapist through AASECT and a Certified Body Trust® Provider through the Center for Body Trust.
Her work as an adjunct instructor for the SPH since 2015, teaching Human Sexuality, Women’s Reproductive Health, and Maternal & Child Health, is informed by her full time work as a mental health and sex therapist in community mental health (at Quest Center for Integrative Health) and private practice. She focused on issues related to maternal and child health and sex education during her MPH and issues related to human sexuality and clinical work during her MSW. In addition to her teaching work, Katie has worked in the domestic violence and sexual assault intervention field; in the sex industry as a stripper; with queer youth in community and social services spaces; and as a therapist for PSU students at SHAC. Much of her professional and personal background and journey has centered issues related to human rights, human sexuality, gender, and relational health.

Experienced Faculty With Diverse Backgrounds
More than 150 faculty members work within the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. They have a wide range of expertise, from monitoring and assessing health risks and opportunities in populations, to helping build health-supporting social environments through policy, advocacy, and programs. They are educators, advisors, researchers, practitioners and community leaders. They come from backgrounds in quantitative, behavioral, environmental and social sciences, policy and government, exercise and health sciences and anthropology, among many other areas. They all work in collaboration with each other and with community partners, and are especially focused on the training and education of future leaders and practitioners in the public health fields.
