A Message From Associate Dean
Hello Colleagues,
This is my last Research Newsletter as the Associate Dean for Research. As I transition from this role, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside such talented, dedicated, and passionate individuals. It has been a privilege to work with such an extraordinary community of scholars, researchers, and innovators. I look forward to continuing to do so as a faculty member.
It has truly been a privilege to collaborate with you in advancing our research mission and fostering an environment of intellectual curiosity and innovation. We strive as a school to foster an environment where creativity, collaboration, and scholarly excellence can thrive. I know the SPH will continue to push the boundaries of knowledge, catalyze groundbreaking research, and create a positive impact in our communities.
Thank you for your support, your trust, and your partnership. I am confident that our research foundation will continue to thrive and propel our research endeavors to new heights. I look forward to seeing how your research will evolve and make lasting impacts in the years to come. And as I move to faculty, I will remain a fervent supporter and advocate for our research community.
In this newsletter, I have left you with valuable information allowing you to obtain some of the information I historically included in this newsletter. You will find resources for identifying research funding. You will also find a link for learning about upcoming events, which includes research events. You will also soon see new research resources on our website.
Please know that I carry with me a deep sense of appreciation for your support, dedication, and collaboration. I look forward to continuing to support research and if there’s ever anything I can do assist you, please do not hesitate to ask. Wishing you all continued success and fulfillment in your research and other endeavors.

Funding Opportunities
Looking for funding opportunities? Here are a few options:
- You can use the SPIN feature of InfoEd at OHSU, sign up for NIH, foundation and other listservs and try services to find funding opportunities.
- You can find limited submissions, MRF grants and internal opportunities on the Competitive Application Portal, or CAP. OHSU is also posting some opportunities on the Research Development Community of Practice Teams Channel. See the CAP for upcoming internal and limited submission opportunities.
- NIH: See the latest NIH Guide Table of Contents for their most recent opportunities.
- Sign up here for the PSU Research & Graduate Studies newsletter
- PSU subscribe to GrantForward, providing faculty members, students, and staff free access to this service. GrantForward uses specialized data-crawling technology to constantly update their extensive database of sponsors and funding opportunities, allowing thousands of grant opportunities to be gathered from over 9,000 US Sponsors. To create your free GrantForward account access the “Create my Account” page and use your PSU email address to create your account. As an SPH faculty member, you have access to this even if you’re appointment is on the OHSU side. You would just need to use your pdx.edu instead of your ohsu.edu email to sign up.
