This important discussion will explore how civic engagement drives equitable public health policy, featuring examples of community-led initiatives across the Kansas–Missouri region and beyond. The discussion will explore how academic institutions, philanthropic organizations, and advocacy networks collaborate to strengthen civic empowerment and inform equitable policy solutions.
Featuring two professors from our member the University of Kansas School of Medicine KU – MPH Program, the session will be moderated by Tim Leshan, ASPPH’s Chief External Relations and Advocacy Officer, and will feature Dr. Elizabeth Ablah (University of Kansas School of Medicine–Wichita), McClain Bryant Macklin (Health Forward Foundation), and Dr. Christina M. Pacheco (University of Kansas Medical Center).
