ASPPH: Strengthening Public Health Hiring Using Public Health Core Competencies

August 27 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

ASPPH is pleased to cosponsor the upcoming Strengthening Public Health Hiring Using Public Health Core Competencies webinar hosted by the National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF) on Wednesday, August 27, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM ET. This virtual session is designed for public health employers, human resources professionals, and workforce leaders seeking to strengthen workforce development through intentional hiring and retention strategies.

Participants will explore how integrating Public Health Core Competencies, such as those developed by the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice, into job descriptions can improve recruitment, increase retention, and align public health workforce practices with national priorities.

The webinar, featuring Dr. Heather Krasna, Associate Dean of Career and Professional Development at ASPPH member Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, will offer practical guidance, including tools, resources, and real-world examples to support implementation. Additionally, attendees will gain insights into emerging national trends and strategies for building a more resilient and skilled public health workforce.

Registration is open and free of charge.
