DOHaD Summer Course
July 28 @ 8:00 am - July 30 @ 5:00 pm
The DOHaD Summer Course is designed for graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and early-career faculty who are interested in the long-term consequences of developmental programming. The course introduces participants to different perspectives within the field of DOHaD thru a series of lectures by nationally recognized researchers.
The Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHAD) is a growing body of research that shows how gene-environment interactions, beginning in the womb, play a critical role in determining an individual’s life-long health profile.
This year our course we will be running in conjunction with the U.S DOHaD Society Annual Meeting. The Society is a regional group of the International DOHaD Society seeking to expand DOHaD research by exploring all facets of fetal origins and early life programming of health and disease. They also promote collaboration between disciplines and facilitate trainings and career development opportunities.
The theme for this year’s course is “Environmental Impact on Developmental Programming”. This year the course will be three days, with the third shared day acting as a trainee day for attendants of our DOHaD Summer Course and the U.S DOHaD Society Meeting. The theme of the career development day is “Beyond the Science” and will feature interactive sessions between speakers and trainees related to grant writing and review, presentation skills and different perspectives on career opportunities. Finally, the US DOHaD Society meeting will have “Beyond 1000 Days” as its theme and feature oral and poster sessions where the latest work is presented.
We are encouraging participants from our previous years to participate in this year’s course as this will be an exciting opportunity for collaboration with other researchers who are in different stages in their careers.
