Website The Library Foundation

The Library Foundation strengthens our community and creates a bright future for children by supporting Multnomah County Library. Since 1995, our supporters have helped librarians reach tens of thousands of children and parents with engaging programs and books that capture hearts and minds. Last year, our organization helped Multnomah County Library reach more than 200,000 children and adults, make 120,000 books available, and expand 11 different library programs.

Our eight-person (7.5 FTE) team works with librarians, in a strong partnership, to determine where private support can have the greatest impact on children facing the risk factors of low literacy. We provide seed funding to start new programs and long-term funding for programs that have been proven, through independent program evaluations, to strengthen reading, learning and academic success. We do not raise funds for day-to-day library operations.
We are a nimble and collaborative team with a commitment to skillful fundraising, artful communications, long-term donor relationships, and our strong partnership with Multnomah County Library. We communicate regularly with over 25,000 library supporters.

THE POSITION

The Database and Annual Fund Volunteer supports the Development Database and Annual Fund Manager with 8-10 hours of work/week. This is a long-term flexible role for which we’ll interview candidates and provide ongoing training and feedback to the selected volunteer. We ask for a 2 year commitment at minimum. This is a very quiet role doing database support and light office tasks as outlined below, working closely with one other person at a downtown office location. The role is on-site only; no opportunity for remote work due to donor confidentiality and the need to provide in person training and support. The hours will be 2 afternoons a week, usually 1-5 pm, to be determined with the selected candidate. We will establish a regular schedule (with flexibility for travel, etc.) that works for everyone.
