Julia Goodman is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Health who does research at the intersection of health services research, population health, and work and family policy. Her research explores how social, structural, and economic factors influence perinatal health and explores the impact of work-related policies on fertility decisions and pregnancy outcomes. She is currently collaborating with researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, on a three-year evaluation of San Francisco’s new paid parental leave ordinance.
She also collaborates with colleagues at the School of Public Health to develop a mixed-methods evaluation of new paid parental leave policies at the city of Portland and Multnomah County.
Goodman was also a Women’s Policy Institute Fellow with the Women’s Foundation of California.

More than 150 faculty members work within the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. They have a wide range of expertise, from monitoring and assessing health risks and opportunities in populations, to helping build health-supporting social environments through policy, advocacy, and programs. They are educators, advisors, researchers, practitioners and community leaders. They come from backgrounds in quantitative, behavioral, environmental and social sciences, policy and government, exercise and health sciences and anthropology, among many other areas. They all work in collaboration with each other and with community partners, and are especially focused on the training and education of future leaders and practitioners in the public health fields.
