Truth or Fiction? Verifying AI-Generated Answers

February 20, 2026 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Generative artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT can produce convincing answers, but not all of them are based on reliable sources. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to write balanced prompts to reduce bias in answers generated by common AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, and how to fact-check those responses using proven information literacy strategies. This session will demonstrate practical skills to use AI chatbots responsibly and verify the accuracy of the text they generate.

After the session, learners will be able to:

  • Craft effective prompts for use with public generative AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, etc.
  • Describe the strengths and limitations of generative AI for information search and retrieval
  • Use information literacy skills and tools to evaluate AI-generated text output

This workshop will be recorded, and the recording will be shared with all registered attendees after the session. If you cannot make the workshop date and time, you are welcome to register in order to receive a copy of the recording.
