Catalyst Awards
This award funds the promotion of progress on clearly articulated, early-phase research agendas by providing opportunities for pilot testing, preliminary data collection, feasibility or needs assessments or similar activities. Public health‐relevant proposals on any research topic of interest to SPH faculty are appropriate, including educational research.

Congratulations to HS&P PhD candidates Chelsea Keating, Emily Boniface, and Mina Colon for being selected as the winner of the 2024 NCHS/AcademyHealth Data Visualizations Challenge for their project entitled: Regional Variation in the Relationship Between Food Insecurity and Chronic Disease. They will present their findings at the 2024 AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting (ARM) at the end of June in Baltimore, MD.

Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Research on the Health of Bisexual and Bisexual+ People
This Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) solicits research, research training, and research career development on the health and well-being of people who identify as bisexual or bisexual+. Bisexual or bi in this NOSI may describe those with the potential to be attracted, romantically and/or sexually, to people of more than one sex or gender, not necessarily at the same time, not necessarily in the same way, and not necessarily to the same degree. Bisexual+ or bi+ in this NOSI is an umbrella term that is intended to encompass non-monosexual identities, including but not limited to bisexual, pansexual, sexually fluid, and queer.

Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Climate Change and Health
The National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS), in partnership with Fogarty International Center (FIC), National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), National Heart Blood and Lung Institute (NHBLI) and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) is leading an NIH-wide Climate Change and Health Initiative (CCHI) with the goals of: reducing the health threats posed by climate change across the lifespan; improving the health of people who are at increased risk from or disparately affected by climate change impacts; and building health resilience among individuals, communities, Tribal Nations, and nations around the world, thereby increasing health equity. As a part of this CCHI, this NOSI encourages applications that address the impact of climate change on health and well-being over the life course, including the health implications of climate change in the United States and globally.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation – Addressing Childhood Obesity and Health Inequities
What: Supports efforts that will support, sustain, and evolve the work of organizations and communities that have been at the forefront of equity-oriented childhood obesity prevention

Faculty Excellence and Innovation Awards
Faculty Excellence and Innovation Awards are now open and accepting applications. The deadline is Friday, Aug. 18, 2024. These awards can make a real difference —they provide $250,000 per year for three years, with few strings attached. The awards can be used to hire people, buy supplies or utilize an expensive but valuable resource. Receiving one of these awards can allow a faculty member to embark on a risky new approach with a rewarding possible outcome. Alternatively, the award can let a faculty member strengthen an already robust project in the lab.
There are two classes of awards: Early-stage Investigators (within 10 years of completing a terminal research degree or medical residency, or within six years of being hired in a tenure-equivalent faculty position without yet receiving substantial independent funding), and Mid-stage or Early-independent Investigators (within 10 years of receiving first substantial independent funding). We expect to fund one of each of these two classes.
Write your application like an early career award or a MIRA (R35) grant — write about your overarching scientific vision for your lab. You can focus on a particular project, but the submission will be most competitive if you place your project in the context of that broad vision.

The Advanced Computing Center at OHSU provides high-powered computing resources to support research, secure data storage, and access to servers with high memory to decrease analysis run-times.
