SPH 2024 First-Generation Students Week

The lived experiences of First-generation students embody resilience, diversity, and the expansive potential within our communities. In celebration of National First Generation College week, and as part of a First Gen Institution, we want to acknowledge the remarkable journeys our students navigate in higher education without a familial roadmap, pioneering new pathways not just for themselves but for generations to follow. Join us in events that celebrate our first gen students and attend a Q+A panel that highlights First Gen experiences in navigating health graduate programs the week of November 12.

Our faculty members who share these first-generation experiences bring invaluable perspectives and deep empathy to their teaching, guiding students with firsthand understanding of the challenges and triumphs along this uncharted path. Driven by passion for health and health equity, their stories serves as an inspiration for current and future students navigating similar paths. In highlighting their stories, it serves as a reminder of the transformative impact of education and the pivotal role of inclusive, supportive communities in fostering public health advancements and equity.

Follow our First-Generation Student Week page to read more first-generation stories and attend our celebratory events throughout the week!
