WHAT IS THE PHE 404 REQUIREMENT?
All undergraduate majors in the School of Public Health must complete a 120-hour experience that aligns with both their major and career goals. The credits for this requirement are PHE 404. The PHE 404 requirement can be met by various types of experience, but ALL experiences used to meet the PHE 404 requirement MUST be approved by PHE 404 Faculty. All PHE 404 registrations must also be approved by PHE 404 Faculty.
Experiences for the PHE 404 MUST meet ALL the criteria below
- 120-hour minimum
- Have an identified site supervisor to verify your experience via either an evaluation of your performance OR Clinical observation hour verification (not both)
- Align with your School of Public Health major
- Further your professional and career goals
Note that PSU will allow a student to register for up to 12 credits (360 hours) of PHE 404, so students have the option of completing more than 4 PHE 404 credits.
All students are encouraged to begin volunteering and gaining a variety of experiences related to their health-related interests early in their education.
