Biography

Carlos is the son of South American Immigrants (Brasil & Argentina), First Generation American, an English Language Learner, and FGCS. He has lived in NJ, NYC, NC, PA, and OR. He’s the spouse to an amazing partner, and father of two resilient teenagers. As a higher education professional, he has expertise in program management, academic advising, and mentoring. He has a proven track record of successfully supporting first-generation, BIPOC, and international students through innovative programs and data-driven strategies. Carlos is passionate about fostering inclusive environments and empowering students to achieve their academic and professional goals. He is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Adult Higher Education at Oregon State University, focusing on DACA and undocumented student success.

Experienced Faculty With Diverse Backgrounds

More than 150 faculty members work within the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. They have a wide range of expertise, from monitoring and assessing health risks and opportunities in populations, to helping build health-supporting social environments through policy, advocacy, and programs. They are educators, advisors, researchers, practitioners and community leaders. They come from backgrounds in quantitative, behavioral, environmental and social sciences, policy and government, exercise and health sciences and anthropology, among many other areas. They all work in collaboration with each other and with community partners, and are especially focused on the training and education of future leaders and practitioners in the public health fields.
