Jenn Hollandsworth-Reed
Biography
Jenn Reed, MPH, is a doctoral candidate in Health Systems and Policy at the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. She earned her BS (Psychology) from Washington State University, and her MPH (Health Promotion) from the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. She teaches Contemporary Issues in Public Health Ethics; Health and Health Systems; Introduction to Public Health Policy; and Public Health Law, Policy, and Ethics at Portland State University. She is a member of the OHSU Gun Violence Prevention Research Center advisory board, a role in which she has served since 2020.
Her dissertation research is using a community-engaged approach to perform a trauma-informed analysis of law enforcement agency mental health wellness policies. She previously served as a Graduate Research Assistant to Dr. Sherril Gelmon on the Supporting Care Partners of People Living with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias study. As an undergraduate student, Ms. Reed performed research related to the performance of gifted students, auditory perception, and organic agriculture.
Ms. Reed spent eight years as a civilian working in local law enforcement, where she became interested in how the mental health of police officers affects their interactions with the communities they serve, particularly their use of force. Her professional experience also includes extensive public records management expertise, the drafting and review of proposed policies and legislation, as well as incident response to both public health and public safety emergencies.

More than 150 faculty members work within the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. They have a wide range of expertise, from monitoring and assessing health risks and opportunities in populations, to helping build health-supporting social environments through policy, advocacy, and programs. They are educators, advisors, researchers, practitioners and community leaders. They come from backgrounds in quantitative, behavioral, environmental and social sciences, policy and government, exercise and health sciences and anthropology, among many other areas. They all work in collaboration with each other and with community partners, and are especially focused on the training and education of future leaders and practitioners in the public health fields.
