Joanna den Haan
Biography
Joanna den Haan is an Adjunt Faculty member at the OHSU/PSU School of Public Health, where she designs and instructs the graduate-level course on Health Promotion Program Planning. With over 12 years of experience leading health promotion programs in community-based organizations and community health centers, she brings a practical understanding of community engagement, program design and implemenation, quality improvement and leadership development. Currently serving as a Director of Community Health at Comagine Health, Joanna leads multi-disciplinary teams advancing statewide chronic disease prevention and management programming, supporting CHW workforce development, and building community care hubs and community information exchanges. Her passion is working at the nexus of the clinical health care system and community based supports, and while she stumbled into public health through the backdoor – having studied social work, international development and organizational leadership – Joanna fell in love with the deep cross-sector partnership work and pursuit of equity that are foundational to the field, and is committed to supporting the next generation of public health professionals.

More than 150 faculty members work within the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. They have a wide range of expertise, from monitoring and assessing health risks and opportunities in populations, to helping build health-supporting social environments through policy, advocacy, and programs. They are educators, advisors, researchers, practitioners and community leaders. They come from backgrounds in quantitative, behavioral, environmental and social sciences, policy and government, exercise and health sciences and anthropology, among many other areas. They all work in collaboration with each other and with community partners, and are especially focused on the training and education of future leaders and practitioners in the public health fields.
